MarketplaceAviation was not built in a corporate office. It started with five Italian friends, a grass strip in Tuscany, 25 years of shared skies — and a phone call from Spain that turned an old idea into something real.
Serristori, Arezzo — late 1990s
Five friends from different parts of Italy ended up at the same place: the grass strip of Aeroclub Serristori in Arezzo, Tuscany. Some came for the machines. Others came for the freedom. All of them stayed for the people. Over countless pre-flights, fuel stops and post-landing coffees, a real friendship was born — one that would last more than a quarter century.
Licences earned, horizons expanded
By the early 2000s, three of the group held a PPL (Private Pilot Licence) and were flying cross-country across Italy and Europe — the Dolomites, Sardinia, Sicily, the Alps. The other two, including Daniele, earned their VDS licence (Volo da Diporto o Sportivo) and fell in love with the slower, closer-to-the-earth world of ultralights and light sport aircraft. Different licences, different machines — the same addiction.
2007 — A move to Spain, but never far from the sky
In 2007, Daniele made a big decision: he moved to Spain. A new country, a new language, a new life — but the same passion for aviation, and the same group of friends back in Italy that he never lost touch with. The group stayed connected through the years: shared flight plans, photos from the cockpit, WhatsApp messages at sunrise. Distance changed nothing. Pilots always find each other.
2026 — The idea becomes a platform
After years of watching friends struggle to buy or sell aircraft — outdated notice boards, unanswered forum posts, expensive broker platforms not built for private pilots — the group decided enough was enough. In 2026 they launched MarketplaceAviation: a free, global marketplace for buying and selling aircraft, helicopters, ultralights and aviation parts. No commission. No listing fees. A built-in chat so buyers and sellers can talk directly about each specific aircraft or part. And for those who want more visibility, an optional paid promotion plan to feature their listing to the top. Built by pilots. For pilots. For everyone, everywhere.

The person behind the code
Daniele Forciniti
VDS Pilot Developer Co-founderAeroclub Serristori, Arezzo — based in Spain since 2007
Daniele obtained his VDS licence around 2003–2004 and learned to fly ultralights at the grass strip of Serristori aerodrome in Arezzo. Those early flights over the Valdichiana, the Casentino forests and Lake Trasimeno gave him something no career or country change could ever take away: the feeling of freedom that only a pilot knows.
In 2007 he moved to Spain, built a new life and switched languages — but never disconnected from his friends back in Italy or from aviation itself. Through all those years of phone calls, shared flight photos and visits to the old aeroclub, the bond stayed strong.
In 2026, when the group decided it was time to build something for the global aviation community, Daniele took on the role of developer and brought MarketplaceAviation to life — a platform where every feature exists because a pilot needed it, and every line of code carries a bit of that Tuscan airstrip with it.
